The girls got slots at Rocky Mountain Adventure Camp in Colorado. I heard rumor of some last minute openings for a free camp in Colorado for high school military kids. I worked some magic and got paperwork, flights, physicals, and packing pulled off in record time. While, I can't say the girls were excited to head off to camp, I was super excited for the adventures they were going to have, so I decided to tag along with the boys as my adventure buddies.
We dropped the girls off at their pick up point in Denver and the boys and I headed south to Colorado Spring. It had been 10 years since I had been in CO and over 20 years since I had visited Colorado Springs. I made it a vacation of "YES." Yes to UTVs, Yes to horse back riding, Yes to gold mines, Yes to ice cream and arcade games. Also, Yes to hiking, rafting, and Pikes Peak (we took the cog railroad).
After 4 days, we collected the girls (who ended up having a good time). We explored the Garden of the Gods and hung out with friends before heading back East. Amazing Trip!
